Course Description

This course aims to develop the foundation skills and knowledge required in the basic day-to-day administration of a business. It is suitable for those seeking work in business or advance in their current role.

It is designed for those without prior business experience, or working in administration or supervisory positions, providing leadership and guidance to others with limited responsibility for the output of others.

Through an interactive, industry relevant learning experience, students will develop a broad business knowledge and skill base which they can apply to a wide variety of contexts for administrative and entry-level business positions.


Course Outcomes

At the end of this course, students will be able to continue to higher studies in business, or undertake various tasks in an office environment, and in positions such as:

·         Administration assistant

·         Clerical worker

·         Receptionist

·         Accounts clerk

·         Secretary

·         Customer service officer


Course Structure

This course consists of 10 units of competency; 1 core unit and 9 elective units. Students are required to complete all of the following to achieve this qualification:


Pathways into the Qualification

This course is suitable for those who have completed BSB30115 Certificate III in Business or relevant qualification/s with vocational experience in a range of environments providing administrative or operational support to individuals or teams but no formal business qualification.

Non-school leavers are selected according to eligibility and merit, work experience, previous study, and personal competencies.

After achieving this qualification, students may choose to undertake:

·         BSB50215: Diploma of Business

·         further studies in higher education in the relevant area of study
