Course Description

This qualification prepares students to work as human resources directors, strategists and national, regional or global human resources managers in roles where they provide leadership and plan the human resources activities of an organisation. For this reason, they need wide-ranging technical, creative, conceptual or managerial competencies.


These roles are usually accountable for group outcomes and for the overall performance of the human resources functions and the strategic direction of an organisation. This qualification may apply to people who are working in a business environment, or those who aspire to entrepreneurship and may also lead to undertaking further higher educational study with advanced standing with a reduction in study duration.


During this course, students will learn about the following:

     ·   organisational leadership

     ·   strategic/HR planning

     ·   human resource management

     ·   managing organisational change

     ·   corporate governance and internal policies

     ·   risk management


The Advanced Diploma of Management (Human Resources) will qualify learners to undertake advanced managerial positions within human resources, manage operational levels and implement strategies for the development of human resources within a business. 


Through an interactive, industry relevant learning experience, using case studies, scenarios and simulated environments, students will develop the business knowledge and skills which they can apply to a wide variety of contexts for senior management level positions.


Course Outcomes

At the end of this course, students will have developed the following:

·    knowledge and skills required for strategic planning, managing organisational change and risk and finance management, and providing leadership across an organisation

·    knowledge and awareness of human resource practices, and industry standards and expectations


Graduates of the Advanced Diploma of Management (Human Resources) will be able to continue to higher studies in human resources or business, or undertake the following roles:

·    Human Resources Director

·    Human Resources Strategist

·    National, regional or global Human Resources Manager

This course consists of 8 units of competency; 6 core units and 2 electives. Students are required to complete all of the following to achieve this qualification:



Pathways into the Qualification

This course is suitable for those who have completed BSB50615 Diploma of Human Resources or relevant qualification/s with vocational experience in a range of environments in senior support roles but without a qualification.


Pathways from the Qualification

After achieving this qualification, students may choose to undertake:

     ·    Bachelor’s Degree in Business (Human Resource Management)

 ·    a range of other qualifications in higher education
